Fred’s 7th CD Republican opponent Michael Alfonso posted a totally untrue thing on his Facebook campaign page back in May claiming that Fred – a long-time hunter and gun owner – "hates the Second Amendment." Wowza. Fred responded with a video from his basement gun safe asking Michael to show us HIS guns. Michael Alfonso actually has no clue whether Fred supports the Second Amendment or how deep Fred’s conservationist roots go. Apparently he’s never bothered to learn. In fact Fred was one of the Democrats who voted to support Wisconsin’s concealed carry legislation in 2012. Mr. Alfonso has also been missing some of his other homework too, dodging public debates and forums, choosing to let his corporate-fueled Super PAC cash speak on his behalf. Following that May exchange, Fred challenged Alfonso to a debate and Alfonso responded, "Fred Clark, I'd love to. You have my number." For almost two months, Clark’s campaign has attempted to reach the Alfonso campaign via phone and email, with no response. Alfonso has also refused to appear alongside his Republican primary opponents, causing at least one frustrated organizer to stage an empty chair as a stand-in to represent him. When the two candidates met at a dairy breakfast on Saturday, Michael only offered a vague suggestion for an August debate that his people would arrange. Vague offers for possible future commitments are not what voters deserve! It’s clear Michael is not ready to debate candidates for either party, even when he’s made a commitment. If Michael wants to serve in Congress, it’s past time for him to answer questions and share his beliefs and qualifications to represent Northern Wisconsin. Our new website, “Where’s Alfonso” is seeking help from residents of the 7th Congressional District in getting Alfonso to live up to his word and hold a debate - any debate! www.wheresalfonso.com Your support for our campaign is important! Can you help us keep an eye on Michael Alfonso? It’s time for the serious candidates for Congress to stand up and be counted.

"$50 a month to $2,650 a month — for the same policy." That's what Patricia Gibbs from Eagle River told me when we sat down to talk healthcare. She spent her career in rural medicine, so when she says this system is "very broken," she's speaking from decades of experience — not just her own premium shock. Her take: it's time for Medicare for All. I couldn't agree more. #HealthcareForAll #WisconsinPolitics #WisconsinStrong #WI07 #CommunityStrength #PolicyMatters #AffordableCare #CommonSenseLeadership #WisconsinValues #PeopleFirst #PeopleOverPolitics #GrassrootsCampaign #TeamFred

Our Wisconsin Farmers Union bi-partisan Congressional Candidate forum in Star Prairie yesterday brought out a great crowd and tough questions for all of us about how we support farmers, support healthy foods, clean air and clean water, and how we diversify our farm economy and strengthen our farm communities. There were two empty chairs for Jessi Ebben and Michael Alfonso who did not attend - they might have learned some things. Big thanks to WFU staff for organizing, and to members of the Polk Burnett Farm Bureau for hosting a farm tour last night down the road at Friendshuh Farms in Clear Lake. It's up to all of us to help support our family farms and ensure they can thrive for years to come in increasingly challenging markets and with a farm policy that has not kept up. We'll have more video from this session in later posts. And I look forward to being a champion for our farm futures in the next Congress!

🌱 "I know farmers and loggers who won't tell their kids to go into the family business anymore." That's a hard truth I shared at the Wisconsin Farmer's Forum — when the system only rewards a handful of commodity crops and margins keep shrinking, there's no path in for the next generation. But there are real reasons for hope: 🌾 Grass-based agriculture is opening doors for small farms with far less capital needed to start 🌾 Perennial systems mean better land use, healthier soil and water, and real profitability at a small scale 🌾 Groups like the Farmers Union are leading the way on these alternatives The bottom line: none of this scales without stable markets and prices that actually cover the cost of production. That's the fight I am ready to take to Congress. 🚜 "Farmers want a strong market, not a bailout check." At the Wisconsin Farmer's Forum, I addressed the twin crises facing WI agriculture: Land access — with land running $10,000/acre, young farmers with the drive and skill to work it can't even get in the door. We need real programs to help the next generation break in. Market stability — farmers don't want handouts, they want fair, functioning markets. Instead, a chaotic tariff war has thrown trade policy into chaos, and it's helping fuel a farm crisis that's only getting worse. My two cents: policy should set farmers up to succeed in the market — not clean up after failures caused by Washington. Powwows are one of the most important events of the year for tribal communities and an opportunity for members to come together, share traditions, food, music and dancing, to celebrate acheivements, and to recognize losses. The Lac Courte Oreilles Honor the Earth Powwow is all of that, and for hundreds of non-tribal visitors and guests, it's an education in culture and community. Seeing the Grand Entry and all of the men, women, and children dancing in their regalia accompanied by drumming circles is a powerful experience for everyone. Rick St. Germaine invited Charly Ray and me to say a few words this afternoon as candidates. I used my minute to stress the importance of having a federal government that follows the Constitution, that respects the dignity of every person on American soil, and that honors the treaties, agreements, and solemn trust obligations we have entered into with native peoples across America. Our words should mean something.

While Americans have each paid more than $2500 as a result of the President’s tariff wars and higher costs of gasoline caused by the chaotic war in Iran, the President's own financial disclosures tell a very different story. It’s now a documented fact that the President, his sons, and the people around him have grown fabulously wealthy while most of us have fallen farther behind. According to the filing just submitted to the Office of Government Ethics, the President’s business interests made over $2 billion in gains during his first year in office — nearly $1.4 billion of that from crypto ventures. That’s more money than the President made in any year he was ever in business - all while he was supposed to be serving us. What's happening now is more than conflict of interest. Democrats and Republicans who are willing to stand up are calling this what it is - a level of gross and open corruption and pay to play never seen before in modern American history. Fixing this mess is going to take years and right now the only body in Government that can start that work will be a new Congress in 2027. I want to go to Washington next year as YOUR independent representative in Congress, and I would love to have your support.

Since I launched a campaign for Congress in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District last October, our team has been pleased by an outpouring of support and endorsements. But none of them have left us feeling as energized and hopeful as receiving an endorsement this week from former Wisconsin 7th CD Representative David Obey. David Obey represented Northern Wisconsin in Congress from 1969 - 2011. He holds the distinction of being the second longest-serving member and the longest serving Democrat in the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin. I am deeply honored to have received David's endorsement and look forward to helping continue the work he committed himself to for so many years. This is the year!

As we get ready to celebrate our 250th Independence Day, I’ve been thinking back to when I was 17, in July 1976, when Americans celebrated our 200th anniversary. I share some of those thoughts and images from that time in this video - so settle in for a short ride back 50 years with me. In those years, even with so many challenges, we still basically agreed that America was destined to continue making progress. But today it seems many Americans don’t share the same trust or the same optimism we enjoyed 50 years ago. Most people I know today though are still longing for that faith and unity in America that they haven’t experienced in a while. And if enough of us share that hope and are ready to act on those beliefs, then I’m confident that our future as a country can still be strong. If that’s not a reason to celebrate and to get involved I don’t know what is. I’m wishing you, your family, and the people around you a happy Independence Day. I’ll be celebrating with you!

Hey, its Fred, We have 2 days until the June 30 reporting deadline that closes out our second quarter in our race for Congress here in Wisconsin's 7th CD. And one of our best supporters who believes in this campaign just gave us $6,000 and challenged to match his gift. It's real people like you who help put gas in our tanks so we can talk to voters throughout the north. Your investment, today, of $25, $50, or whatever gift is meaningful for you will help us meet that challenge, and show Wisconsin just how wide and deep our support really is. My opponents may have millions of dollars in outside money. But we have what they'll never have - the over 1500 individuals like you who have supported and volunteered for our campaign. I would be proud to have you join us, and with your help I'd be honored to go serve the people of Northern Wisconsin next year in Congress. Are you with us? Lets do this! See the link below.
